Bok Tower
We cut back 10 plants at Bok Tower, some of these cutting were given to 140 kindergarteners from Haines City. They are from 2 schools and will be teaming with us to help expand our population of the new species of milkweed plants in our county. The other cutting we potted up and put in the green house at Bok Tower. They will transplant them using our log that shows places in the garden lacking milkweed.
As part of our community service we surveyed Bok Tower's garden and created a log and map of the locations of milkweed plants. We worked with the head horticulturist and education coordinator to identify the species of milkweed we were finding.
Designed signage for the different varieties of milkweed plants
We kept cuttings from species we did not have in our school garden to increase our variety of plants. As these plants grow we will collect their seeds and send the seeds to other schools that are helping us by creating waystations.
We worked in Bok Tower's lab studying OE disease with their horiculturist
